Tips for the Preparation Zone
- Include refrigerated drawers in your Preparation Zone so you can keep fresh ingredients close to your work space.
- Invest in a good set of knives and be sure to store them in a way that prevents dulling. A magnetic wall strip or a traditional butcher block are good options.
- Keep a second set of the tools available, so you don’t have to keep rinsing or cleaning as you prepare. Most “prep-chefs” like to have several silicone spatulas, cutting boards or sheets and sets of measuring cups and spoons.
- Install shelves to keep cookbooks close at hand, either as part of an island or in a pantry.
